The problem of individuality in psychology: historical directions and the current models

Annotation

The article presents the theoretical basis of the study of individuality of personality. The authors examine the issues associated with the problem of of individuality in psychology, analyze the historical directions and modern research models. The main psychological schools solve questions about the essence of individuality, about the factors of individual differences on the basis methodological principles. In various areas psychology and personality theory are studied basic formal characteristics of individual differences as unique and original features of human. The domestic psychology is determined by several main areas of research of individuality. The first direction - differentially-psychophysiological - focuses on the biological, neurophysiological and psychophysiological aspects of individual differences in human. It studies the structural features of the body, nervous system and temperament. The second direction of research - personal - typological - connects the individuality with the typological peculiarity personality. This direction is highlights the individual style of human activity. The third direction is considering individuality as a unity of processes and mental states, as the interaction of internal and external life of human. Theoretical positions concerning the individuality in psychology indicate the complexity and versatility of this category. The special importance and relevance of a systematic analysis of the problem connected with contemporary social situation of human development in the information space.
