In the present article the activity of local authorities of the Lower Volga region in the field of the organization of an everyday life of the population during the military period is considered. Features of the decision of food and housing problems in the region are shown by the author, the organization of public catering and an accomplishment, work on the decision of material-household problems of families of the military personnel, evacuated, invalids of war, maintenance with their medical aid. The author comes to the conclusion that the measures being taken by State helped to lose the existing difficulties and to solve the major social problems of the population in the region. At the same time heavy consequences of the war, limitation of material possibilities, the priority of heavy industry development, strengthening of army and a military-industrial complex did not allow to achieve during a prolonged period essential results in the social development of the Lower Volga region and the organization of a daily life of the population.
