Annotation

Sovereignty in political science is usually defined as the most important feature of the state in the form of its full independence within a certain area, that is, its supremacy in domestic politics, as well as its independence in foreign policy. The concept of sovereignty has come a long way of development and to date has evolved from a narrow concept, aimed at support of the supreme power of the monarch in a certain area, in a sufficiently rich in meaning category of political science and international law. This article discusses the evolution of the concept of "sovereignty". At the present stage of development of this concept, despite some differences, almost all representatives of the main paradigms of political theory, sovereignty is considered one of the main categories of contemporary international relations, which has the character of the fundamental norm.
