This article discusses the construction of the image of law enforcement institutions in social communications. The importance of the communicative function of law enforcement institutions is pointed out, its philosophical and legal aspects are analyzed. The existing problems in the communication of the institutions of law and order and society, hindering its effectiveness and consistency, are noted. The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing role of bilateral and transparent social communications for the effective operation of law enforcement institutions in modern Russia. The methodological basis of the study was general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, descriptive and formal legal methods (in terms of analyzing the text of normative legal acts). The theoretical basis of the study was the works of domestic and foreign philosophers, political scientists, sociologists and jurists of different years, concerning the topic of law and order, institutions of law and order and their social communications. The result of the conducted research is the formulation of the conceptual foundations and current directions for the development of the communication activities of the police institute, as well as proposals on ways to improve the image of the internal affairs bodies.
