Prospects for cooperation between the EAEU and Iran in the energy sector

Annotation

The Russian Federation is one of the most developed countries in the field of energy, as well as the most developed EAEU state in both economic and energy terms. The Islamic Republic of Iran is a developing country with enormous potential in the field of energy, labor and economic resources. Under the conditions of cooperation, the cumulative potential of the Union and Iran in the field of energy can have global significance. Since Iran is under international sanctions, the energy sector of this state requires an effective development driver, which could be the establishment of relations with the Eurasian Economic Union. This article analyzes the prospects for cooperation between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union. The study analyzes data on the IRI's energy complex, focusing mainly on the hydrocarbon, gas and nuclear complex of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the impact of the state's possible accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. It also takes into account Russia's promising projects in this region and the dependence of the IRI in this regard on the factor of sanctions pressure from Western countries, which has a specific conjunctural influence.
