The emergence and development of global studies has proven to be an adequate scientific response to the global challenges of modern world. First of all, an important area of scientific research has become the awareness of the processes of globalization, the tendencies, causes, essence, as well as the research of global problems generated by globalization and the search for the ways to solve them. Humanity, having entered the era of knowledge and progress, in parallel with them faced global problems in all spheres of human life. The focus of research is gradually shifting to the processes of globalization. Thus, the existence of new or previously unexplored phenomena becomes apparent. The present article is devoted to scientific and sociocultural context of global studies, to the prospects for the development of global studies and globalistics. It considers new trends and challenges of globalization, assessed the contribution of global studies to the sustainable development of civilization. The focus is put on the actual problems of the 21st century, the answers of globalistics to new challenges, sociocultural aspect of globalization, as well as the interdisciplinary synthesis in global studies.
