The article considers the role of the University in the regional and urban environment, its functional purpose in their strategic development. Due to the new requirements, the University is integrated into the regional space, offering innovative projects in various sectors of the economy, social and cultural life. Higher education institution creates a comfortable spatial environment for the successful training of human resources, forms students and undergraduates professional competence for their implementation in the socio-economic development of the region. The University organizes work on cooperation with regional and city authorities to identify urgent problems and find ways to solve them effectively. The most practice-oriented projects of bachelors, masters and teachers are financed through grants. The University organizes internships, scientific events, public lectures of employers, as well as through additional professional education provides training and retraining, as a factor in the development of regional and urban environment.
