The article is devoted to the little studied topic of regional history, which reveals the main stages in the development of civil construction in the space of the major economic center of the Lower Volga region - Astrakhan. The authors analyze the reasons and factors that contribute to the growth of the city's territory in different historical periods, show the main directions of urban development, disclose the functional purpose of the erected objects, facts related to the perception of the buildings by both the Astrakhans and the guests of the city, including foreigners. The article focuses on the anniversary dates in the history of Astrakhan, contributing to the deployment of urban construction in the direction of implementing large-scale social projects.
