Annotation

The article is devoted to the American Tv-series "Star Trek" as postfrontier text. "Star Trek" is one of the most important science fiction series of the XX century, which largely influenced the development of the genre, and for 50 years of its existence has become a global media franchise. The author focuses on frontier and postfrontier ideas and plot components of original series, showing that many of the science-fiction movies and books inherit frontier symbolism. The author dissects the first years of the media franchise, paying particular attention to the presence in it of a sufficiently large number of markers specific to western. The author also analyzes the specific construction of the image of the Other in the series, drawing parallels with the American history. To confirm the idea of inheritance of frontier images and motifs, the author also examines the product made in fundamentally different conditions and with different cultural background - “Land of Crimson Clouds” Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. The author concludes that in spite of a certain amount in common motifs in the works, accents are placed differently, indicating the different cultural background behind these texts.
