The paper analyzes the genesis of political parties in the post-Soviet Russian society and determined the place they occupy in the political system during the transformation of the state. On the basis of the classical definitions of leading scientists partologs the role and place of political parties in the country provides a comparative analysis of the parties in the period. Various aspects of the formation of a multiparty system of the Russian society and its effectiveness in the development of civil society.
