Annotation

The book by Michael Hartman, a German professor of sociology, elites researcher from Darmstadt Technical University, was published in 2013 and became especially popular and relevant in the context of elections to the Bundestag. The gap between the rich and the poor is growing in Germany. Social inequality, tax evasion, low wages and the financial crisis – all these important political and social issues are seen by the representatives of the German elite with their own point of view, which differs from the one of the most members of German society. The book presents the results of Hartman survey, which was conducted in 2012. According to the author the German society should not only talk about the growing economic stratification, but also the division of opinion on this separation.
