Annotation

The article analyzes the archaeological and historical information that was obtained during the publication of the, Fyodorov-Davydov’s article that was named "The city and the region Saksin". The author attempts to correct a distorted view that the Lower Volga was a nomadic region in the Middle Ages, showing a large number of archaeological sites, correlated with sedentary Saksin region in the Volga delta and in the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. The author considers such archaeological sites as Samosdelskoe settlement, which, in his opinion, is the remains of the city of Saksin. Besides that, the author describes the Tumak-Tube settlement, Moshaik settlement, Khan-Tube burial ground and also numerous settlements in the central and western parts of the delta. Basing at the example of these sites the author seeks to delineate the boundary of Saksin region in XI–XIII centuries.
